Achieving armors and weapons work very differently from the games. Essentially, you're doing the same; gaining materials from monsters. However, we don't have drop rates and whatnot. Here, you don't gather certain items. It's a quite difficult system to explain, so I will just jump into on what you need to do in order to gain a full armor set or weapon. Noting "or"; you can only pick the armor set or weapon once conditions are met. You can repeat the process twice in order to gain both if you'd like.
To get an armor set of a monster or the monster's weapon. Note: All quests that count towards these two rewards have to be of the exact monster or at least include it.
S Rank and S Rank: Two S Rank missions will grant you the choice of choosing between the monster's armor or it's weapon.
S Rank, A Rank, A Rank: One S Rank and two A Rank quests will grant you the choice of choosing between the monster's armor or it's weapon.
A Rank, B Rank, B Rank, A Rank: Two A Rank quests and two B Rank quests will grant you the choice of choosing between the monster's armor or it's weapon. Get it? If you're still confused, message the Admin and we will try to explain it even further. From now on, I'll list just the combinations.
B Rank, B Rank, B Rank, C Rank, C Rank, C Rank
D Rank, D Rank, D Rank, D Rank, C Rank, C Rank, C Rank, C Rank
Other combinations? It's up to a staff member to deem you worthy of the materials needed for the armor set or weapon.
How do armor sets work? Without many statistics on the website, the armor your character wears matches the attributes of the monster being hunted, including the density of armor/etc. Mainly, armor is for visuals as we don't focus on statistics, but we keep everything at note while judging hunts, searching for the realism we desire. Speaking of realism, armor sets are not specified by gender here. Male sets are known as bulky sets here, women sets are known as slender sets here; removing gender/sex restriction when it comes to wearing armor. Your male gunner can wear a slender light set (the female gunner set in the games) and it will fit just fine.
Remember, Bulky Heavy Set, Slender Heavy Set, Bulky Light Set, and Slender Light Set are the four types of armors.
Upgrading armor sets are pretty easy. You post in this thread with the upgrade template and we modify your equipment to Level 1. If you do it again, we upgrade your equipment to Level 2. Difference between Level 2 or Level 1? No numbers to explain, but if you're wearing G Rank Tigrex Level 2 armor and get bit by an High Rank Alatreon, we expect you take more damage than one with G Rank Tigrex Level 3 armor.
Regarding armor skills, here; there are none. Want hearing+? Disposable Ear buds are the way you'll have to go. Having Zamtrios armor and remaining human does not make us see eating raw meat realistic.
Regarding visuals; the choice is up to you. A lot of people liked the High Rank Zinogre Armor more than the new G Rank Zinogre Armor from MH4U. Here, when you craft that G Rank Zinogre Armor, you can have it look like either or; just not both. On this site, you won't stay in Low Rank for a long time. There won't be Low Rank Zinogre hunts; therefore there won't be any Low Rank Zinogre Sets. Did you prefer the look of the Low Rank Zinogre Set over the other two? Then, regardless of you're making the High Rank Zinogre or the G Rank Zinogre Set, you can make it look like the Low Rank Zinogre Set. The visuals are up to you.
How do weapons work? Just like armor, there are no big statistics that we take note of. Earning two S Ranks on hunting a Wroggi can earn you his weapon, despite of there being one in game cannon or not. It'll be expected to do poison damage, of course. Depending on the monster's (the one of your weapon) bite strength, that'll be the expected damage output your character will have and how we'll judge if your character can slice through a monster's hide or not.
Upgrading weapons works just like upgrading armor. We know that weapons can actually upgrade into new weapons, but trees as such are nonexistent here. Have a Tigrex Switch Axe and want to upgrade to Brute Tigrex Switch Axe? (Both High Rank) You'll have to hunt the Brute Tigrex twice and get the S Ranks needed, or whatever combination from above, and make it.
