Biography

I was born into a family whose ancestors were the victors and writers of our history. The Keoloel, or "The Laughing Eel" were pirates who conquered a good stretch of the Jungle Coast. Today, we are the aristocrats of the region. I was born to a chieftess of the Keoloel and her husband, a high-ranking hunter close to our Circle of Leaders. They are my mother and father, though I was raised, for the most part, by servants of theirs; my old wet-nurse is especially dear to me. At the age of 10, the Circle of Leaders placed me into the Hunting Class and my training began. I began a ruthless physical regimen and diet that would mold my body into one capable of wielding the Great Sword. My village’s doctor gave me trace amounts of demon-drug to ingest over time so that my body would, eventually, gain immunity to serum’s side effects. It was a long and arduous process, one that would give me but a glimpse of the toil life as a hunter would bring. My time was divided between this training and a tutor who instructed me in tribal history, calligraphy, religious ritual, rhetoric and tactics. I only ever saw my parents bi-monthly or on special occasions, prior to meeting them, my guardians instructed me on the formalities of conversation with them. They observed my training and congratulated me on my progress before returning to their tribal business’ hardly knew my parents, and in my eyes they became larger than life individuals. Deities. The longest period for which I had seen them was during a ritual; they watched as I was given sub dermal tattoos in my cheeks and forearms. My friends were few aside from my nurse, a female hunter, and a domesticated boar who had taken a liking to me. On my eighteenth birthday, I was informed I would be leaving it all behind. It is a Keoloel tradition that all hunters are to live a decade in solitude before being fully welcomed into the community. A cruel but necessary tradition, it is an initiation that my father before me had to survive. My father, mother and a parade of spectators led me into the jungle and left me with sparse supplies and the weapon I had trained all my life to use. This was 6 years ago. After that day, I lived in the wild on my own. During the first year, I lost much of my weight moving across the jungle, finding only small settlements of people, making little social capital. The second year, my confidence raised and the loss of all I had known was beginning to pain me less. The third year, I had created a camp just north of a settlement I traded with. I didn’t like the locals, their ways were strange to me, and I had been taught to shun such low class peasants. The fourth year, I rebuked the tribe that had abandoned me. The fifth year the Keoloel contacted me and introduced me to a support network of Keoloel allies with whom I could live. In these settlements my status grew and I renewed my favor towards my tribe. I became proud. Just before the new years solace, I learned that my father had died in a hunting expedition. This year, I began to travel once more. I am a nomad. In just four years my initiation will be complete and I can come back to my tribe, a hero. In the meanwhile, I look to bring glory to the Keoloel and myself. The Keoloel help there own, but also encourage independence, thus I am currently living solitarily to prove myself to them. I live as a hunter and have been doing so for six years. I move from area to area, looking for work and hunting to survive. Sometimes I happen upon allies of my family and receive food, shelter and supplies, but I'm usually solitary and self-sufficient. While I have killed my fair share creatures, I not yet fought one I consider a true Monster; the lands I have wandered have been relatively tame. I wish to face a grander challenge, one that goes beyond meager raptors and boar. If you accept me into The Guild, oh guild Masters, you will be welcoming great talent. The blood of my family streaks hot through veins, my resolve is stone, and my wrath in battle is an avalanche that conquers all in its way.
